We got about 6 inches at our place in Brackettville, from Saturday night thru Sunday evening. The roads in the area were all closed right away, so we weren't able to get to our place until this morning. This is just one of the crossings we go thru. Not sure if you can tell, but the water at this one was about 2-3 feet over the flood gauge. [/URL]

There is a reason for yellow rulers on the side of the roads.

It's just crazy how quickly the water gets that high. It also goes down pretty quick too, once the rain stops. We will always need to be sure and have some extra supplies on hand once we get to stay out there. We always pay attention to weather, but it will be especially necessary out there.

We were going to out place opening day weekend one year and the State Troopers had Hwy-41 and Hwy-83 blocked due to high water like that. There were hunters lined up for miles trying to get to their land.
We finally turned around and came in from the North and managed to make it. And, there was one time we got iced in and I-10 was shutdown. We were stuck at the cabin and down to eating grits and eggs for supper. Thought I was going to have to go kill something for food!

Yeah, I predict getting iced in as well. Hopefully not very often!
