How far of a shot would you take with a 40 cal pistol for a hog?

I wouldn't take more than a bow shot with mine. But I only fire self defense ammo thru it. With proper ammunition and practice I don't see why it wouldn't go farther. Mine is not as accurate as I would want for hunting. But then again, it's a Hog so......

I took a buddy up to the cabin with me last week to help with the plumbing problems I was having. Since I was having plumbing problems and we have been buddies since high school and since he was a certified master plumber for 18 years who wanted to bust a few hogs is just seemed like a dam good fit to me! Anyway, the hogs have the ground just tore up about 10 yards in front of my wife's blind, but all I had was my Glock 23. So, I set him up in my blind with his AR and I hunted my wife's blind hoping I could bust a few from about 10 yards. 10 seconds after the feeder went off out came about 20 hogs, every one hung around the perimeter of hog paneling about 75 yards out. I briefly thought about taking a shot just to see what would happen, but I didn't hoping they would come closer. They never did. From now one there will always be a "camp rifle" that stays up there for just in case......

I shot at one across a pond once. It was about 50 yards. I don't know if I missed or just tickled him, there was no blood. I aimed good the 1st shot then dumped the mag.
