We snuck off to the Deer lease this weekend. This is our 2nd year of intensive game management on our place so I was a little more excited than last year. Driving down Friday we saw something new to our area. Can you believe these folks are so nice that they installed fans all over to keep us cool.
Saturday morning about 1 3 4:30 and 6 am the bottom fell out. Although our blind is dry as a bone, our walk from the Suburban to the blind isn't. So we opted to stay in. And have breakfast instead. Wasn't a tough decision for me. Everybody that went out saw very little. So then I decided a nap was in order and we'd try it again Saturday evening. We got out a tad late that evening so I think the feeder may have already gone off. Less than five minutes after we settled into the blind Deer start showing up. Nothing spectacular but they were all over none the less. They hung around about 30 or 45 minutes then started to disappear. Then we saw why. A big reddish brown Sow came in to the feeder. She had about a million Shoates with her. Last time I saw her standing, it was directly underneath the feeder barrel. Those little babies looked like Ferguson residents after the tear gas bombs went off.
As it turns out, I wasn't the only one seeing Pigs. Shots started ringing out all over the ranch. When we got back to camp, we added to the pile 9o' Pigs.
I think there was about 7 or 8 adult Pigs killed Saturday. Then we set our sights on some grilled Chicken.
It was a great weekend. Unfortunately, no Deer were killed.
