I am getting ready to rebuild the feeder that collapsed and this time I will be adding an additional pulley. I think this will help save the winches and the drill.

We went to the lease in Victoria today to get two feeders. Hubby is going to rework them, then they will go to our new place in Bracketteville. Never considered two pulleys.

I been thinking about switching over to a crank up. This is what we have on all our feeders, they are lots safer then a boat style winch with the little dogleg catch. You can crank these halfway, stop and it will not fall. Also, you can use the handle or something like an 18 volt DeWalt drill. Just put the nut on, get the right size socket and you are in business. We have been using them for 5 or 6 years now, but it does strain the drill and winch when lifting a full 300 pound barrel. The second pulley will reduce the lifting effort by half but will take twice as long to lift it. So, that means it will take about a minute and a half to lift it will a DeWalt drill link
Here is another one from Harbor Freight link
