My wife has been going to the park every morning to pick up pecans. I told her she ought to be carrying her gun with her.
Yesterday, she observed a guy just sitting in his car for the entire time she was there, nothing happened but it was strange. I told again she ought to be packing her gun, which this time she agreed with me.
Anyway, it got me thinking. What if that guy would have gotten out of his car and approached her, what should her actions be?
She does have a CHL. I told her to tell the guy to stop, if he didn’t, start moving away from him and get you gun out, if he still didn’t stop, pull the hammer back, if he still kept coming and got within arms distance or so, then shoot him.
I know this is a forum and not the place to come for legal advice, I am just curious how you guys, especially the woman on this forum would handle it.

It's hard to say what one can do in a certain scenario. Simply because no two are the same. I don't believe in training for different situations from a physical standpoint. However, I do believe in training from a mental standpoint. I think it's important to train with your weapon not only from a standing position, but also sitting, laying, prone, etc. And I also strongly agree with using laser sights on a personal defense weapon. In a SHTF situation, you won't always have the chance to line up those 3 little dots. But to answer your question, I don't think anyone can answer exactly what they would do. They could answer what they would want to do, but Like I said, every situation is different. One thing is for sure, I would never unholster my weapon until I'm ready to fire.

Completely agree about not pulling from holster unless I was going to pull the trigger. The thing is, you don't know if the wacko has a weapon as well. It could end up with who pulls their gun and fires fastest.
I have a high self preservation instinct, and would have no problem pulling a weapon to defend myself, but most women are not like that. Even still, I might choke and have a few seconds of hesitation, you just don't know until something actually happens.

4 in the chest and 2 in head should take care of the issue!

I don't see what the problem is with pulling your firearm while issuing another warning to stop, cops do it all the time, they just don't pull their guns out and start shooting. If anyone has any sense at all they will back off when a gun is pointed at them. It seems to work well with L.E. why not with citizens? Besides, my wife is not exactly a quick draw artist.
I am really more concerned with her being justified just because a stranger was approaching her and would not stop the advance.

My advice to people is always first and foremost situational awareness and it sounds like she has it down since she's already noticed the guy. My advice would be never let him get close to her...if he gets out of the car immediately be moving away, but also watching him. Bad guys look for targets that appear vulnerable more times than not. The lady coming out of the store talking on her cell phone while digging in her purse looking for her keys, stuff like that. They like the element of surprise. Be ready and don't be caught off gaurd and instinct will take over. We are all born with that "fight or flight" instinct. That's what those butterflies in your stomach are when things start to look hinky. As far as pulling your weapon, you are justified if you feel you are in danger. But it may or may not always deter them, some folks are stupid lol!! I know for me personally I always carry and I'll go home safe no matter what I have to do to get there. It wouldn't hurt for her to report it and have the local LE check the dude out.

Make sure she knows not to let him get close at all. Remember the 21 foot rule. I had to pull my gun on a guy a while back, that pulled a knife out. Twice 70 knows all about it, the guy had issues, but luckily the gun made him re think his situation.
