No one was seeing any axis deer at all, guess they high tailed it, so I finally shot a big WT doe. I was watching one at my "sendaro" feeder, but could never get a good angle on her and she finally walked off. Five minutes after that I saw a pretty nice 8 point, but he was young and not big enough to make want to spend money at the taxidermy. He jumped out of the pen, walked over to a cedar and rubbed his head on the branches. Shortly, after he left two yearlings walked up and started browsing around, they we just too small to harvest and then momma came in behind them, walked over the branch the buck rubbed on and sniffed around.
Two minutes later, she was in the pen, standing sideways offering a perfect shot, I aimed behind the shoulder and fired, she went down like a sack of potatoes and never moved again. Turns out I hit her high just above the shoulder, guess I broke her spine or something, she never knew what hit her.

Congrats on the freezer filler. I hate knowing there are axis around, then not seeing them when I'm purposely after one.
I would have been really surprised if I had seen a buck that would make my trigger finger itch. I was concentrating on hog control. I got 4 and hubby got 2. Nobody did anything about them over the summer, so there are tons of them now.

That Buck in the scope would've gotten himself a truck ride.

A friend of ours son took his first ever deer Saturday! So excited for him! And then our neighbor on the property next to us took this one last week bow hunting!
