I haven't taken a deer since 2013. I made a good shot on this guy, but I was badly afflicted with buck fever. lol He came out where I least expected, so I had to quickly set up a shot behind me. Lucky for me he was busy checking a group of does and didn't see me moving all around. I can't believe he didn't hear my heart pounding. I couldn't find him in my binoculars my hands were shaking so bad afterwards. lol

I was telling my hubby that I almost hated to take him. I almost took a chance that he would show up again later on, just to watch him for a few minutes. You can't tell very well from the pics, but his neck was all swollen. The way the morning sun absolutely made him glow, while he was moving along the pond, stopping for a minute to get a drink, I enjoyed just looking at him. I think I could become an axis snob, and just forego whitetail, since axis meat is much better. I might just get to the point where I only shoot WT with my camera.

We had a three legged doe that everyone felt so sorry for that she finally just became a pet. She lived for five or six seasons and had babies every year. I guess she finally just died of old age, the last year we saw her on the game cam, she was looking really sick and skinny.

Game cam pic of him, shows his neck all swelled. Who wouldn't want to see that in person?
